40056 pilots 'dead' 55017 (D9017) "THE DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY" at Doncaster on the 24th November 1979. 55017 had completely failed, but for her steam boiler, and 40056 was summoned to take the stricken service, a returning charter from King's Cross to Morpeth back to its intended destination.
