55001 (D9001) "ST. PADDY" stands in Doncaster Works yard on Monday 22nd October 1979 - note her extremely shabby appearance and a missing fuel tank. At this time a desicision to repair locomotives 55001, 55004 and 55020, all of which had languished at the Plant since early 1978, was being undertaken. 55004 (D9004) "QUEEN'S OWN HIGHLANDER" re-appeared from the Works in December 1979, though repairs to 55001 and 55020 (D9020) "NIMBUS" were considered to costly and both were broken up in January and February 1980.
